Perceptual Filters

On 28th Dec, one of my mentors, Mehan sent me this message.

“Human learns through perceptual filters. And most of these filters are sometimes efficient but not favoring us all the time. Neuroscience studies show how a frog’s eyes (visual perceptions) work. Frogs interpret that anything BLACK, MOVING and have a particular shape is considered as food. This is efficient way for it to hunt down flies. But, a frog will die in starvation when it’s inside a box with died flies which are NOT MOVING. So, too efficient and too narrow perceptual filters will starve us of good experiences, even when we are surrounded by exciting possibilities and dreams or visions. The best way to break these limiting filters is TO ACT AS IF YOU CAN! By the way, how is your mental filter is functioning?”

Well, I think my past experiences; family influence, self-concerning and the environmental condition will definitely affect my mental thinking process to filter information and opportunities in my life. But for this moment, I wish to see myself grabbing all the chances if I can to learn more and more things so to add on values for myself. If I do not want to starve in my little world, I will need to change my attitude to become braver and keep trying for the best in everything. Braver to accept new changes and trying for the best to achieve goals.

Comparing to what I have read from an e-book “Mind Mastery”, It say our mental states determine how we create our world, we create our mental states by the way we represent things to our self. It is a link to mental filtering, where our mental states determine what we filter in order to create our own world? Let’s think about it, as we understand ourselves better, we can have greater success in our life.

Beauty and the Imagination

I was easily amazed by the beauty of nature. The sunrise, the sunset, or even the clouds is remarkable. Like this two pictures i took at Glory Beach Resort, Port Dickson, i think it is beautiful and it give us a lot of space to imagine. Imagine according to what we are thinking, and it will look alike to what we are imagining. The above picture, although is dark, look carefully towards the clouds, do it look like a mouse? Well, it's seem like a turtle climbing on a stone to me too. What do you think? ^^

Beauty and the Imagination

The beautiful view of the clouds on my journey to Taman Negara. It just like the sun we drew when we were small, a circle with some straight line around it, represent the glowing of sunshine. Look at that cloud, to me it's look like a barking dog with a little tail. Isn't it?

Perhimpunan Patriotisme 2008

During the holidays, i had to sacrificed some of my relaxing days at home to join a camp organized by my university named as the title head above.

At first, i thought it'll be a boring camp for me. But i am looking forward to it as well because i can spend times with my friends there. After all, i realized that it actually did convey some messages throughout the entire camp. Besides learning traditional dance "zapin", and first-aid knowledge, i got some other input that make me think about.

During a talk, the speaker told us that there are 3 level of power.
1> Feeling or sense
2> Believe
3> Knowledge

Sense lead to responsibility, pride, belonging, giving nature and others of human behaviors. What we got to do is be the best that we can be, where if we do the best, then the god will help us do the rest. Is it true? I think we just got to believe it, right? We are now aim to add values to our life, to get the ability of taking action, making things happen and the most important to put things into motion, with a positive matter attitude inside us.

Equation is given as :Mindset + Energy = Power
With the vision, and completing missions by keeping on path to archive the vision will make our life a success. At least it is what meant to us, to ourself.

"If you do the same things like others, you get the same results with others. So do things Differently!"

The right attitude

Recently, reading a book entitled "You Can Win". In this book it mentioned:

"The Calgary Tower stands at 190.8 meters. The total weight of the tower is 10,884 tons, of which 6,349 tons is below ground (approximately 60%). This shows that some of the greatest buildings have the strongest foundations. Just like a great building stands on a strong foundation, so does success. And the foundation of success is attitude."

So i am thinking about attitude. Am i having the right attitude? How to i know i am having a good attitude or not? So i asked this question, to myself and to other. Catherine told me, to determine whether the attitude is right or wrong, it is depend on the principles that one's is holding. Good principles lead to positive or good attitude and vice versa. But it is actually hard to say, because people have different values and if we have the similar values with them, then we will be consider having the good attitude as them.

So after all, can i say, to value the attitude actually is depend on each individual? One should be caring, confident, patient, and humble. One should have high expectations of themselves and others. One will anticipate positive outcomes. All this characteristic show a person with the good and right attitude towards life. Sound like i still have lots more to learn, to learn to manage my EQ, to learn to increase my IQ, so to improve myself to become a greater person.

Here sharing some of the optimist's characters:
1> Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
2> Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best.
3> Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
4> Give everyone a smile.
5> Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others.
6> Be too big for worry and too noble for anger

Sweet mak jamilah, pak samsudin, kak ila, abg aziz, their children faizah, kak ngah...and many others. By spending time wiv my other frens too, we do dikir barat, visiting pasoh 4, friendly matches and games, gotong-royong... after all,it is enjoyable. I'll say i had a great fourdays memories here. Miss the moments...

Penyu Menangis

This is a team building programme when i joined the kem PEKASA 2008.
It start at mid-night, with participants given "clues" to collect other clues in other checkpoint until the task finish. It is some kind of mental and physical challenge where the participants have to stay awake for the whole night and storming their brains to solve the clues. They said this is the time where we can test the personality and characteristic of a participant, whether he or she is easily give-up type or going-on type.
Some parts occur where the participants was being scolded and slapped when they show minimum commitment and weak leadership, disappointment rose when no one dare to defend until they are ready to continue the challenge. i had the same feeling of touched when they finally solve the clues as a team. The moment they sang the song and hold high the flag,we can feel the tears of joy and proud.

A Grateful Day

I never tried to write any post in English before this.
Today is a very special day where i really feel like writing down some comments to myself. The easier way is to leave a post in a blog. But the computer do not enable the display of Chinese character, hence i cannot post on my regular space. And thus i immediately try this out.

It is mentioned that today is a special day. why? Because it is the birthday of a special person that walk in to my life not long ago. If you ask me my feeling towards this special person, i can hardly tell because he is old enough to be my father, like a father but as well as a mentor and friend. Normally, only the people close to my heart can get my homemade cards, and i did it for him. Maybe not as good quality as the cards being sold in the market, it is my sincere appreciation. A little disappointed when he did not keep the card after reading and did not bring it home with him. However, he and his sister has invited me to join their life. It is surprising because i never thought of that. Really thank them for giving me this opportunity. I appreciate it deep from my heart. I may not be a person who can express myself very well, depending with who, but i am trying.

Being the whole semester spend with him, i do gain something. I cant explain it in words form, it is kind of mindset- expanding and i gain fulfillment while listening to their talks and ideas. i seldom comment, i enjoy listening, i do thinking and hopefully i become more knowledgeable. if given a choice, i will choose to stay.

Wish everyone enjoy the day and be happy.
